Last July vida+facil submitted its proposal in One Prize competition. The competition invites participants to choose an abandoned industrial area and to propose a new trans-formation methodology, that could be applied to any other industrial space and elsewhere in the world. v+f choosed to work on the site of Can Batllo, located in the heart of Barcelona, an abandoned industrial area that has remained integral during the time. The proposal has been developed in three phases: analysis, transformation and development. We have also defined: relationship with the property, management model, economic system of self-financing and the communication strategies. The production methodology adopted is to manage the flow of resources and waste by generating closed cycles (cradle to cradle) for both natural and industrial metabolisms, within the site also between the site and the neighborhood. The proposal draws a spiral process in which each small action produces small profits that are reinvested in the next action, generating a chain sequence.
